Real Madrid set to meet with Kylian Mbappe’s family

Real Madrid are reportedly set to meet with the family of PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe to discuss the possibility of a summer transfer.

According to French publication RMC Sport (h/t SPORT), Real Madrid have scheduled a meeting with the family of Kylian Mbappe to discuss a summer move, amid reports that the PSG superstar is close to signing a new contract with the Ligue 1 champions.

Mbappe’s future has been dominating the headlines for a year now. Ever since he entered the final 12 months of his contract with PSG last summer, Real Madrid have been making concerted efforts to sign him up. They launched multiple offers in the summer window of 2021 but were rebuffed by Les Parisiens.

However, with his contract expiring at the end of June, Real Madrid are very hopeful of signing Mbappe on a Bosman deal. There have been reports of a pre-contract agreement already being in place. Although the player has continued to insist that he is yet to decide on his future.

PSG, for their part, have been desperately trying to tie Mbappe down to a new contract, but their attempts have proved futile until now. But, earlier this week, Le Parisien reported that the 23-year-old superstar had decided to sign an extension with the newly-crowned Ligue 1 champions.

As per the report, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner had decided to sign a two-year contract worth €50 million per season, with an enormous signing-on bonus of €100 million. However, Mbappe’s mother, Fayza Lamari, who also handles his representation, was quick to deny those speculations, insisting that the forward is still undecided on his future.

Now, though, amid growing concerns about the deal, Real Madrid have scheduled a meeting with Mbappe’s family next week to try and push through the transfer in the summer window. The report insists that the PSG superstar is still undecided on his next move and wants to know the details of the sporting project being offered by his current club before taking a call.

Either way, it is claimed that Mbappe will make an official announcement on his future in the second half of June. So, even though Real Madrid remain confident of landing their priority transfer target, a deal is still not seemingly closed, and it remains to be seen if they can get it over the line.
