Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus is reportedly open to joining Arsenal in the summer, although both clubs are yet to begin talks.
According to David Ornstein, as relayed by Daily Cannon, Gabriel Jesus might be willing to move over to north London and join Arsenal in the summer, with the move progressing in the right direction. Arsenal director Edu Gaspar has already initiated talks with the Brazilian’s agent, although both clubs are yet to discuss a transfer.
After a season of frustration, Gabriel Jesus has found himself in the spotlight following some scintillating performances for Manchester City. The Brazilian forward has scored five goals in the last two games, including one against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League semi-final.
Before that, Jesus started Manchester City’s Premier League clash against Liverpool after a brief hiatus from the starting lineup. The Brazilian international proved his worth by netting against Jurgen Klopp’s team in an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Etihad.
Despite his terrific form, Manchester City could still sell the striker in the summer as they inch closer to securing Erling Haaland’s signature. Moreover, Jesus will enter his final year after the season ends, which may be the right time for the club to cash in.
Arsenal are interested in Jesus as Mikel Arteta remains in the hunt for a no.9. It is the position the Brazilian forward wants to play regularly in, considering he has been deployed out wide for most of the season at Manchester United. The Gunners like his mentality and the extensive experience in the Premier League he has under the belt.
Arsenal director Edu Gaspar recently opened talks with Jesus’s agent, who could, in turn, act as an intermediary during negotiations between the clubs. Manchester City are expected to let the striker go in the summer, although if there are twists in their pursuit of a new No.9, things could take a different turn.
Arsenal could open formal talks with Manchester City once they have a clear vision of Jesus’s intentions regarding the move. According to David Ornstein, who spoke on the Athletic Football Podcast recently, the Brazilian striker is willing to join the Gunners.

The report also suggests Arsenal could nearly doubled the Brazilian international’s wages by suggesting a contract worth €6 million a season is on the cards. As things stand, Jesus could be tempted to join Arteta’s squad in the summer, although extensive talks would prove crucial.
