West Ham United face intense competition from Brentford for Hull City’s young winger Keane Lewis-Potter.
According to Football Insider, there is a battle brewing between West Ham United and Brentford for Hull City winger Keane Lewis-Potter, with both team’s managers recently in attendance to watch the young attacker in action.
David Moyes continues to receive praise for some of the talent-spotting attributes he has shown while in charge of West Ham United. While he has a good track record of developing talents, there have been a few bargain transfer dealings at the club, that have turned into extremely shrewd signings.
A prime example is Jarrod Bowen, who came in with little experience in the Premier League when he arrived at West Ham United from Hull City. The winger has become a key part of Moyes’ attack at the club and continues to attract the attention of bigger clubs.
In a similar raid, West Ham are now eyeing Keane Lewis-Potter after Moyes identified the young winger as a possible transfer target. The Hammers’ boss was in attendance to watch the attacker up close when Hull City took on Millwall on Easter Sunday.
West Ham United are already preparing an offer for Lewis-Potter and his Hull teammate Jacob Greaves in the summer. Moyes remains confident of completing a move for the winger, although he now faces competition from London rivals Brentford.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank was also in attendance to watch Lewis-Potter in action and could make a push for his signing in the summer. The Bees could potentially offer him more regular playing time if he signs for them. There is always room for new talents at the club, who have been successful with identifying prospects at a young age and then developing them.
However, West Ham United could offer the youngster a route into European football. The Hammers can play in the UEFA Champions League if they win the Europa League this term. Even if that does not materialise, they are well within a shot to finish in the top six and secure some form of European football next term. Playing in the continental tournament could be appealing for Lewis-Potter.
As things stand, the race could be open for the 21-year-old winger who has scored 12 goals for Hull this season. Along with Brentford and West Ham, there could be more teams coming into the equation for the player with a contract until 2023, although Hull City have an option to extend it by another year in the agreement.
