Carlos Soler will prefer joining Barcelona in future

Carlos Soler’s opinion on his next destination has handed a boost to Barcelona, with the 25-year-old keen on joining the Blaugrana after leaving Valencia.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Carlos Soler will prefer to join Barcelona when the time comes to leave Valencia. While the Spanish international could stay put at Valencia for now, he will hope to move to Camp Nou when his stint with Los Che eventually ends.

Carlos Soler has been with Valencia since he was an eight-year-old. And after rising through the ranks rapidly at the club, the 25-year-old broke into the first-team setup at the Mestalla in December 2016. Since then, the player has gone from strength to strength, establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in La Liga while making his international debut for Spain.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a solid 2021/22 campaign, chipping in with 12 goals and five assists in 32 appearances across all competitions. But Soler’s contract situation has put Valencia in a spot of bother, with his deal running out in a little over a year. Widespread reports suggest the two parties want to extend their union, but his position has alerted Barcelona, among other clubs.

The interest from Barcelona stems from the uncertainties surrounding the future of Riqui Puig. At the same time, Sergio Busquets is approaching the final phase of his glittering career, and Xavi Hernandez could start phasing the Barcelona captain out as a regular in the coming years.

Soler is thus a viable target for Barcelona, who could delay signing him till 2023. If the 25-year-old Spanish international does not commit his future to Valencia by then, Barcelona will have the chance to prise him away from the Mestalla in a Bosman move.

The Catalan giants have now received a boost in the race to sign Soler, who has a clear idea about his next destination. The Valencia midfielder will prefer to join Barcelona when the time comes for him to depart from the Mestalla.

So while Tottenham, Liverpool and Juventus are also showing an interest in the 25-year-old Spanish international, his next destination could be Barcelona. It will be interesting to see when Soler moves to Camp Nou and if a transfer ever sees the light of day.
