Tottenham and Leicester City could battle it out to sign Christian Eriksen in the summer, as the playmaker continues to impress at Brentford.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Leicester City and Tottenham are keen on signing Christian Eriksen, with the Danish playmaker available on a free transfer during the summer. The creative midfielder has been impressive with Brentford in recent weeks as he continues to make his mark during his short-term deal.
It has not even been a year since Christian Eriksen collapsed on the floor during Denmark’s UEFA Euro 2020 clash with Finland. The playmaker suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch, which shocked the football world back in June of last year.
The midfielder subsequently recovered and returned to training with Inter Milan, but the Italian FA’s policy restricted any player to take the field with a pacemaker fitted in them. Eriksen was released from his contract, and Brentford took the gamble of signing the former Tottenham star on a short-term deal.
Not many thought Eriksen would play at the same level as before the cardiac arrest, and the playmaker has surprised few people with his intensity on the pitch. As Brentford struggled for relevance and were in danger of dropping near a relegation fight, Eriksen has helped them rise in stature in a big way through difficult times.
Conte: “Christian Eriksen was really important player for me. To see him now playing at this level is incredible. I’m very happy for him, he’s doing amazing”. ?? #THFC
Tottenham and Leicester are really interested in signing Eriksen on a free in June – but still no talks now.

Having played six games since signing for the Londoners, Eriksen has managed to score once and provide two assists in crucial games. More importantly, the Danish international has shown his ability to play whole games without any visible problems, having completed the full 90 minutes five times in six appearances.
As his Brentford contract expires in the summer, a number of Premier League clubs have shown interest in signing Erkisen over a longer-term deal. The 30-year-old is keen to remain and prolong his career in England, while there is attraction from clubs like Leicester City and Tottenham.
In recent weeks, Spurs have indicated their desire to bring in a creative midfielder after being linked with Antonin Barak, Seko Fofana and Nicolo Zaniolo. Antonio Conte remains on course to use the next window to strengthen the Tottenham squad and would like a reunion with his former charge at Inter Milan.
Eriksen is reportedly keen on rejoining Tottenham, and a deal could be agreed quite easily if everything falls in place. However, Spurs face competition from Premier League rivals Leicester City, and the Foxes remain keen on exploring a deal for the playmaker
Leicester City want to add a notable name to improve their options on the creative side. Eriksen’s vast experience in the Premier League and his availability on a free transfer are highly attractive for the Foxes. Depending on the circumstances, the former Premier League champions could put together an offer and make their proposal clear in the summer.
As things stand, Eriksen will be free to leave Brentford in the summer, and his connections with Conte and Tottenham from make the north Londoners the clear favourites. However, the Foxes could rival Spurs with a better offer, including a higher pay package and a longer-term deal.
