Manchester United, Arsenal face AC Milan, Inter competition for Christopher Nkunku

Inter Milan have reportedly joined Manchester United and Arsenal in the race to sign RB Leipzig’s in-demand playmaker Christopher Nkunku.

According to Fichajes, there is no shortage of options for Christopher Nkunku this summer. The RB Leipzig playmaker is one of the most in-demand players in the market right now, having dazzled all of Europe with his performances in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United and Arsenal are two of several European giants keen on securing the services of Nkunku in the coming season. But it appears they are set to face stiff competition from reigning Serie A champions Inter Milan, while fellow Lombardy giants AC Milan are involved in the equation as well, pointing towards a potential bidding war in the summer.

Manchester United’s interest in Nkunku is hardly surprising as their interim coach and future consultant Ralf Rangnick shares a close relationship with the player. Although the Red Devils have recently extended the contract of Bruno Fernandes, they are in desperate need of another explosive attacker who can strengthen the ranks in the creative department.

With 50 goal involvements in the current season, Nkunku fits the bill well. The Frenchman can combine with Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo to make Manchester United one of the strongest teams in the Premier League under the tutelage of new coach Erik ten Hag.

Another potential destination for the RB Leipzig star is Arsenal. The Gunners have no shortage of creators in their team, but Mikel Arteta would like to incorporate a more dynamic attacker into his ranks, especially with Nicolas Pepe likely to leave the Emirates in the summer.

But the competition from Inter Milan could be a daunting prospect for the two Premier League giants. The Serie A champions have built a solid reputation for enhancing playmakers and giving talented attackers an opportunity to make their presence felt in Europe.

The Nerazzurri have already played a key role in relaunching the career of Romelu Lukaku, while Lautaro Martinez could be headed for a big-money move in the summer. Nkunku, to that end, could consider San Siro as the perfect staging ground before he looks to make the bigger leap in his career.

That said, Inter Milan may lack the finances to pull through a move for Christopher Nkunku. The Nerazzurri have recently adopted a more conservative market policy, so it appears unlikely they will be willing to match RB Leipzig’s hefty €75 million price tag this summer. AC Milan, though, might be able to battle Manchester United and Arsenal if the Investcorp takeover goes through.
