Alvaro Morata uninterested in Arsenal switch

Alvaro Morata is uninterested in a move to Arsenal after reports linked the Spaniard with a switch to the Emirates Stadium.

According to La Stampa, as relayed by TuttoJuve, Alvaro Morata is not interested in joining Arsenal in the summer. The Gunners were recently linked with a move for the Spaniard, although the report claims his terrible spell at Chelsea may have played a part in him rejecting the north London side.

Alvaro Morata has managed to attract high fees from clubs during his career. He has played for some of the biggest clubs in the world like Juventus, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Atletico Madrid and now faces an uncertain future in his second spell at the Italian side, where he is on loan from Atleti.

Juventus have a €35 million buy-option in their two-year loan deal for the Spanish striker, which they are unlikely to exercise. The Italian side are mulling over making a €15 million offer to keep the forward at the club, which may not be acceptable for parent club Atletico Madrid.

The arrival of Dusan Vlahovic have changed Juventus’ plans drastically, which has even resulted in the club pulling out of negotiations to extend Paulo Dybala’s contract. That puts Morata’s future in question as many clubs ponder a move for the Spaniard.

Reports emerged earlier this week about Arsenal making a €30 million offer for Morata. Ideally, Atletico may have accepted such a proposal and cut their losses, but the striker may scupper the move. He is reportedly not interested in moving to north London and may wait on other offers that arrive.

The report adds that Morata loves life in Turin and may talk with Juventus over signing him permanently. The 29-year-old has had a decent season at the Allianz Stadium, and staying put might be his priority in the summer. He remains uninterested in returning to Atletico as he could never settle at the club since joining from Chelsea.

Arsenal are in the market for a new striker, with the futures of current stars Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah in severe doubt. They might look to sign another experienced star if the Frenchman leaves, and Morata could have been targeted to fulfil that specific role.

The Gunners even made a late attempt to sign Morata in January after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s departure to Barcelona. They ended the window without making any new signings after Mikel Arteta pushed the striker search for the summer.

The Italian outlet’s report insists that Morata may not be attracted to London anymore after his ill-fated time at Chelsea. He does not have good memories of the city and hence remains uninterested in a move to Arsenal. As things stand, his future remains uncertain but a transfer to the Emirates might be off.
