Real Madrid demand €22 million from AC Milan for Brahim Diaz

Real Madrid are reportedly asking for a sum of €22 million for Brahim Diaz, who is currently on loan at AC Milan.

According to Calciomercato, Real Madrid have slapped a price tag of €22 million on Spanish playmaker Brahim Diaz, who is currently away on loan at Serie A giants AC Milan. However, the report adds that the Rossoneri are unwilling to meet that valuation to sign him permanently in the summer.

Diaz, a former Manchester City youth prospect, arrived at Real Madrid in January 2019. However, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder never really got an extended run in the side at the Santiago Bernabeu due to the plethora of top players ahead of him in the pecking order. After making just 21 appearances, the Spaniard left the club to join AC Milan on loan in the summer of 2020.

Diaz enjoyed a fairly solid season with the Rossoneri in 2020/21, as he finished with seven goals and four assists from 39 matches in all competitions. It prompted Milan to sign him on loan again last summer on a two-year deal.

However, things have not gone according to plans for the Serie A heavyweights. Diaz has struggled to perform consistently this term. The 22-year-old has netted four goals and assisted four more from 35 games in all competitions. However, he has not scored in Serie A since late September last year and has not registered an assist since December.

Diaz’s decline in form is a big concern for Milan, who are vying for the Serie A title. Despite that, there remains enough interest from the Rossoneri to sign him on a permanent basis either next summer itself or once his loan deal runs out in 2023.

Real Madrid are open to the idea of offloading Diaz permanently. Calciomercato claims that Los Blancos are demanding a sum of €22 million for their attacking midfielder, which AC Milan are reluctant to pay due to the player’s waning form this season.

The report states that the two clubs are likely to sit down for a meeting in the summer to discuss Diaz’s future and the next course of action. The former Manchester City prospect, for his part, wishes to continue in Milan, at least for another year.

A strong end to the season from the 22-year-old could prompt Milan to make his transfer permanent. If his poor run continues, they might consider terminating the loan agreement just after one year. It remains to be seen how the situation evolves in the coming months.
