Juan Mata wanted by AC Milan, Inter Milan

Serie A giants AC Milan and Inter Milan want to sign Juan Mata, who will leave Manchester United at the end of his contract.

According to ESPN, there is considerable interest in Juan Mata, who will leave Manchester United when the season ends. The veteran attacking midfielder is courting interest from Serie A giants AC Milan and Inter Milan as he eyes a new move to a European club.

Juan Mata’s successful time in England will be coming to an end when the current season concludes. The Spaniard will move on a free transfer with many clubs keen on the veteran attacking midfielder. The Manchester United star has had eleven years in the English top-flight and is looking for a new move.

Mata may not be the agile star he once was, although he still possesses qualities that could be useful for many clubs. His experience at the highest level counts for a lot, and hence clubs are vying for his signature. He could still prove to be a useful squad player for teams in Europe like some of his former Spain colleagues like David Silva or Santi Cazorla.

Mata has been barely involved in matters on the pitch this season. The Spainard made his first appearance in the Premier League this term in Manchester United’s loss to Everton on Saturday. There is no doubt his future lies elsewhere as clubs from Spain, France and now Italy are coming into the equation to sign him on a free transfer.

There is significant interest from Spanish clubs although the report insists that Mata would like to test himself in another league. Italian giants AC Milan and Inter Milan are reportedly keen on the veteran attacking midfielder as they eye a bargain, short term signing in the summer.

Milan may add to their stable of experienced stars such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud. Mata represents a player who could be of big help to the many youngsters in their squad. His playmaking qualities could come in handy, considering that the Rossoneri have had problems in the No. 10 position.

Meanwhile, their local rivals Inter Milan are also reportedly keen on the Spaniard. While there’s no shortage of players in the same position at the club, Mata could bring his experience to a side expected to compete on multiple avenues next season.

An experienced head such as Mata could yet prove handy in key games due to his experience, winning mentality and know-how. Moreover, the Spaniard will be a cost-effective option. It remains to be seen where he plays his football beyond the current season.
