Real Madrid will reportedly need to fork out €150 million to snap up 18-year-old English international Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Borussia Dortmund will demand around €150 million to part with Jude Bellingham. The 18-year-old English international is a target for Real Madrid.

Jude Bellingham first rose to prominence when he became a pivotal figure for Birmingham City FC, aged just 16. And it was hardly surprising that some of the most high profile clubs in Europe chased the teenage prodigy’s signature two years ago before he chose to further his career at Borussia Dortmund.

The decision has been correct on a personal level, as Bellingham took no time to establish himself as a key figure for Dortmund. And the 18-year-old has enjoyed a solid 2021/22 campaign, raking in six goals and 13 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions. At the same time, he has also established a foothold in the English national side while attracting several European bigwigs, including Real Madrid.

The interest from Real Madrid comes in the wake of the advancing years of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. While the rampant uncertainties surrounding Dani Ceballos and Isco might prompt Real Madrid to invest in a central midfielder in the upcoming summer transfer window, the situation surrounding the ageing midfield stalwarts means the Merengues need a long-term solution.

To that end, Bellingham is a viable target, with Real Madrid already establishing contact with Borussia Dortmund over a possible transfer. But signing the 18-year-old English international will cost Los Blancos a pretty penny, with the Bundesliga giants demanding around €150 million to part with him.

Spending €150 million in the upcoming summer transfer window might be beyond Real Madrid’s means, considering they are targetting a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. But Dortmund might look to keep Bellingham for another year instead of selling two key players in the same year.

While widespread reports have claimed that Dortmund will prefer selling Bellingham to Real Madrid, the Black and Yellows will likely firmly hold on to him for another year. It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid will be open to shelling out €150 million on the 18-year-old English international.
