Liverpool and Juventus are looking to take advantage of Carlos Soler’s contract situation with Valencia, as both clubs eye the prolific midfielder.
According to Golsmedia, Carlos Soler is generating tremendous interest from Liverpool and Juventus, as the midfielder could be potentially available this summer. Any move will hinge upon Valencia’s ability to offer the Spaniard a new, improved deal, hoping he accepts and confirms his long-term stay.
For now, Valencia are certainly not in the driving seat regarding contract extension talks with two of their important players. The club’s two captains, Carlos Soler and Jose Gaya could be on the brink of departing Mestalla as they enter the final year of their current deals.
There is still no agreement between them and Valencia over new contracts, with the club still immersed in financial difficulties. Soler, in particular, is of acute interest to Liverpool and Juventus, among other sides. However, a decision on his future will depend on the La Liga club’s contract offer in the coming weeks.
Valencia are reportedly are unwilling to offer more than €3 million-a-season net salary to Soler, which would make him their highest earner. However, comparing that sum to what big clubs could potentially provide, Valencia’s offer certainly is low. If there is no agreement, the La Liga side will be resigned to evaluating proposals for the midfielder.
Liverpool are prioritising a new central midfielder this summer, as Jurgen Klopp looks to freshen up his options in the middle of the park. The idea would be to find someone to replace James Milner and add a bit of young blood in the middle.
Players like Youri Tielemans, who could depart Leicester, and Aurelien Tchouameni of AS Monaco are on Liverpool’s shortlist. There are other high profile names like Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips as well. Soler could become a financially viable alternative for them. The Valencia midfielder’s goalscoring numbers may also appeal to the Reds as he has netted nine league goals this season.
Meanwhile, there is interest from Juventus, who want to revamp their options in the centre of the pitch. Juventus are eyeing several high-profile stars such as Paul Pogba and Renato Sanches but could look at Soler as a financially feasible opportunity. The 25-year-old could be available for much less than some of their other targets.
There could be departures for Adrien Rabiot and Arthur Melo, with Soler being viewed as a replacement. He could excel in Turin, although tough competition from Liverpool could harm their chances of signing the Spaniard.
As things stand, Soler has reiterated his desire to continue at the Mestalla, although Valencia’s next and final offer could be the catalyst in deciding his future. Liverpool, Juventus or some other side could certainly sense an opportunity and make an approach for the Spanish international in the summer window.
Valencia would want to keep hold of star players like Soler and Gaya. They have ambitions to return to the Champions League, which will help ease their financial problems. But the lure of playing for a team like Liverpool, where he can challenge for and win trophies could appeal to Soler in the summer.
