Barcelona will reportedly not pursue a move to sign 28-year-old Argentine international Paulo Dybala on a Bosman move in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Paulo Dybala is highly unlikely to join Barcelona on a Bosman move in the summer transfer window. Xavi Hernandez has decided to call off the pursuit of the 28-year-old Argentine international, who might join Atletico Madrid or Inter Milan instead.
Paulo Dybala is a player who promised much when he joined Juventus from Palermo in July 2015. But over the last six and a half years, the player has blown too hot and cold for his own good, failing to hit the heights his talent and potential point towards.
The 28-year-old has enjoyed a decent 2021/22 campaign thus far, amassing 13 goals and six assists in 29 appearances across all competitions. But the Argentine international’s stint with Juventus will end in the summer transfer window, as he will run down his contract before searching for a new challenge. And there is no shortage of interest in Dybala, with Barcelona one of his prospective suitors, until now.
But Barcelona will not pursue a Bosman move for Dybala, with Xavi Hernandez not a fan of his talent. The decision seems sensible, as there is no position in Xavi’s system at Barcelona where Dybala could excel, considering the Catalan giants play in a 4-3-3 setup.
Dybala’s qualities are best suited for a system where he could play off the main striker through a central position, which unfortunately does not exist at Barcelona. The Blaugrana will instead pursue a move for a natural winger. To that end, Raphinha is reportedly a key target for Barcelona.
As for Dybala, the 28-year-old Argentine international should still have plenty of suitors following him, with Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan also hot on his trail. Recent reports have also linked several English clubs with the Juventus forward, meaning he will likely join a team playing in the UEFA Champions League next season.

For now, what appears certain is that Barcelona will not launch the offensive to sign Dybala on a free transfer in the summer transfer window. It remains to be seen where the player will end up ahead of the 2022/23 season.
