Liverpool are among the clubs keen on the services of Ajax forward Sebastien Haller, who could cost between €40 million and €50 million.

According to a report from Fichajes, Ajax are facing a battle to keep hold of Sebastien Haller. The key frontman has attracted the interest of a host of clubs across Europe following his blazing performances in Europe, with Liverpool among the teams keeping close tabs on his situation.

Ajax could find it difficult to retain Haller, who has a market value of €30 million but could cost in the region of around €40 million and €50 million. Along with Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan are keen on securing the services of the Ivory Coast international.

Following a miserable spell at West Ham, Haller has rejuvenated his career since his move to Ajax at the start of last year. He has netted an incredible 46 goals in just 58 competitive appearances, with 20 of the goals coming in the Eredivisie this term.

Haller’s contributions in front of goal have not only been restricted to Eredivisie either, with the forward notably netting 11 goals in the Champions League this term. His form was key in helping Ajax beat Borussia Dortmund twice during the group stage campaign, although the Dutch outfit were ultimately knocked out by Benfica in the knockout stage.

Following the elimination from the Champions League, Haller could be seeking a new challenge in the new season. Liverpool have been tipped as a potential destination, with the Reds reportedly keen on finding an alternative for Roberto Firmino.

Although Haller might not be a like for like alternative for the tricky Brazilian, his impressive goalscoring numbers at Eintracht Frankfurt and Ajax suggest he could be a lethal weapon for Jurgen Klopp’s team next season. He is, after all, a technically gifted striker who can link up seamlessly with the likes of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz in the Liverpool attack.

Liverpool’s hunt for a new striker has been further accentuated by uncertainty surrounding the future of Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian has been the club’s top scorer over the past few seasons, and his potential departure could leave a massive void in the club’s goalscoring department.

Haller, to that end, could prove to be an excellent replacement, though it remains to be seen whether Liverpool oblige to pay his hefty €50 million price tag. The Ivory Coast international certainly is not the only option for the Reds, who are also in contention to sign a far more ambitious player in the form of Robert Lewandowski.
