Dani Ceballos is inching closer to leaving Real Madrid in the summer transfer window after reportedly reaching an agreement on personal terms with Real Betis.
According to reputed Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Dani Ceballos’s frustrating stint with Real Madrid is set to end in the summer transfer window. The Spanish midfielder will likely rejoin former club Real Betis after agreeing on personal terms with Los Verdiblancos. The deal to re-sign him could be clinched at around €18 million.
Dani Ceballos spent his formative years in Andalusia, spending time at Sevilla and Real Betis before graduating from the latter’s academy over half a decade ago. After some impressive performances for Los Verdiblancos, the 25-year-old earned a big move to Real Madrid in July 2017. But he has failed to progress much in the last four and a half years.
The Spanish international has been a bit-part player for Real Madrid throughout his stint thus far, with his best phase during this period coming in his loan spell with Arsenal. Since returning from Arsenal, Ceballos has struggled to establish a foothold in the first-team setup at the Santiago Bernabeu, with a long-term ankle injury also playing spoilsport.
As a result, the Spaniard has managed just 75 minutes of game-time across seven appearances in all competitions. With his career headed nowhere at Real Madrid, a summer exit is likely, with a move back to former club Real Betis emerging as a possibility.

The interest from Real Betis stems from the advancing years of Andres Guardado and Sergio Canales. With William Carvalho heavily linked with a possible summer departure amid interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United, Los Verdiblancos will need to bolster the midfield department ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Ceballos is thus a viable target for Real Betis, with their former midfielder now inching closer to rejoining the Andalusian club. According to Rudy Galetti, the 25-year-old has already reached an agreement on personal terms. Only the final paperwork is left to be sorted, with Real Madrid likely to recoup around €18 million from his sale.
The potential return to Real Betis means other suitors like Inter Milan, AS Roma and Crystal Palace, will need to set their sights elsewhere in search of midfield reinforcements in the summer transfer window. For now, it looks like the Spanish midfielder’s frustrations at Real Madrid are finally about to end with an €18 million move to Real Betis.
