Inter Milan join race to sign Dani Ceballos

Serie A giants Inter Milan are reportedly interested in signing Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Dani Ceballos is the subject of interest from Inter Milan over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Serie A giants have joined Crystal Palace and Real Betis in the race to sign the Real Madrid ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Dani Ceballos had enormous hype surrounding him when he joined Real Madrid from Real Betis in July 2017. But all that fanfare has since disappeared, as the Spanish midfielder has made gradual progress at the Santiago Bernabeu, having been a bit-part player for the most part for Los Blancos in the last four and a half years.

Ceballos’s best spell came during his two-year loan spell with Arsenal, but he chose to remain at Real Madrid upon returning from the Emirates, hoping to establish a foothold in the midfield unit. But injuries played spoilsport in the first half of the season, while the stunning form of the five midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order has further restricted the 25-year-old.

As a result, Ceballos has garnered only 75 minutes of game-time across seven appearances thus far this term. With his career headed nowhere at Real Madrid, a summer departure seems to be on the cards for the Spaniard, with Inter Milan among his prospective suitors.

The interest from Inter Milan stems from the uncertainties surrounding the futures of Arturo Vidal, Matias Vecino and Roberto Gagliardini. The trio could depart from San Siro in the summer transfer window, prompting the Serie A giants to scour the transfer market for midfielders. To that end, several players, including Real Madrid outcast Isco, have emerged on the Nerazzurri’s radar.

Ceballos is also a viable target for the Serie A giants, with the 25-year-old offering a long-term solution in the middle of the park. But Inter Milan will have to fend off stiff competition from Crystal Palace and Real Betis in the race to sign the out-of-favour Real Madrid midfielder.

Real Madrid might not stand in the Spaniard’s way either, considering they intend to enter the market for a central midfielder themselves, with Youri Tielemans among the players on their radar. So amid intense competition for his signature, it remains to be seen if Inter Milan will beat Crystal Palace and Real Betis to Ceballos’s signature.
