Premier League heavyweights West Ham United are reportedly prepared to offer Eden Hazard an escape route out of Real Madrid in the summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, West Ham United could battle fellow Premier League clubs Chelsea and Newcastle United in the race to sign Eden Hazard from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
Eden Hazard completed his dream move to Real Madrid in July 2019 after bringing his productive seven-year stint with Chelsea to a close. But the dream soon turned into a nightmare for Hazard, who has been blighted by a spate of injuries, effectively being reduced to a bit-part player for Real Madrid.
This season, Hazard has reached the lowest ebb in his professional career, garnering only 877 minutes of game-time across 22 appearances in all competitions. With his Real Madrid career headed nowhere, the 31-year-old desperately needs to leave the club in the summer transfer window. West Ham United could offer him an escape route out of his troubles at the Santiago Bernabeu.
West Ham could delve into the market for attacking reinforcement in the summer transfer window, as David Moyes has been stretched for options in a busy 2021/22 campaign. Jarrod Bowen’s injury has further heaped pressure on the West Ham squad, prompting the Hammers to scour the market for a new wide-attacker.
Signing a striker will invariably be the West Ham’s priority amid links with Ben Brereton Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Youssef En-Nesyri, among others. But investing in a proven wide-attacker like Hazard could also be a step in the right direction for West Ham, especially if they clinch European football next season.
West Ham will face stiff competition in pursuit of the Real Madrid outcast, with Newcastle United reportedly opening talks over a possible summer move. The Belgian international has also been linked with his former club Chelsea. But in light of the latest sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich, it is unclear if the Blues will be able to sign any players in the summer.

West Ham could thus have the initiative to launch an offensive for Hazard, although they will need to be efficient in their moves, considering Newcastle can theoretically pay a higher sum than them to prise Hazard away from Real Madrid.
