Cristiano Ronaldo keen on joining PSG

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly keen on a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

According to Football Transfers, Cristiano Ronaldo has made up his mind about leaving Manchester United if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season. The Portuguese international is believed to be interested in a move to PSG, where he could play alongside Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo grew to prominence during his first stint with Manchester United between 2003 and 2009 before a move to Real Madrid propelled him to unforeseen levels of stardom. The Portuguese became an all-time great at the Santiago Bernabeu, breaking all goalscoring records at the club while winning four Champions League titles and as many Ballon d’Or awards before moving to Juventus in 2018.

He was not a hit at Juventus by his standards but still scored 101 goals for them over three seasons. A return to Manchester United followed last summer but things have not been as rosy as his first stint with the Premier League club.

Ronaldo started well, scoring twice in his second debut for the club, but things went downhill soon after. He has so far managed 15 goals for the Red Devils this season and has scored just once this year. Manchester United, too, are struggling in the top-four race and could fail to qualify for the Champions League as things stand, following their derby defeat to Manchester City, which Ronaldo missed due to an injury.

With things going south at the club, the Portuguese maverick is already on the lookout for greener pastures. There are not many potential suitors for a Ronaldo with waning power, but PSG are reportedly interested in bringing the Portuguese forward to Parc des Princes.

The French giants are still searching for their first-ever Champions League title, and are ready to unite Ronaldo and Messi, the two greatest footballers of the modern era, in a bid to end that drought. PSG are also set to lose Kylian Mbappe in the summer and believe Ronaldo could be a good short-term replacement.

The 37-year-old could be tempted to move if Manchester United fail to finish in the top four and qualify for next season’s Champions League. Ronaldo is currently back in Portugal, nursing a hip flexor injury while also mulling over his next move. Whether Manchester United manage to qualify for next season’s continental showdown remains to be seen, as it could have major implications for the club on and off the field.
