Paris Saint-Germain reportedly remain keen on re-signing Everton loanee Moise Kean, who is enjoying a decent spell at Juventus.
According to Calciomercato, French giants Paris Saint-Germain are interested in bringing Everton loanee Moise Kean back to Parc des Princes in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The youngster came through the ranks at Juventus, making his senior bow for the Bianconeri in 2016. A prodigiously talented player, Kean spent three years in Turin before moving to Everton in 2019.
The move to Goodison Park proved to be a faux pas as the 22-year-old struggled to make an impact. Kean has so far made just 39 appearances for the Toffees, scoring four goals and assisting two more. He spent the 2020/21 season on loan at PSG before returning to Juventus via Everton, this time on a two-season loan for the 2021-23 campaigns.
This lack of stability has severely impacted the Italian international, whose development has stalled somewhat. He has been decent at Juventus this season, but his nowhere near eye-catching. It is a disappointing output for a player who set pulses racing at PSG last season.
While Kean does make up the numbers at the Allianz Stadium, he is firmly behind Dusan Vlahovic and Alvaro Morata in the pecking order. With the youngster finding little joy in Turin, it makes sense to call time on his loan prematurely in the summer of 2022. However, that will not be easy given the terms of the loan deal.
Kean’s spell in the French capital appears to have left an indelible mark on PSG, who remain keen on welcoming him back. This summer, the Ligue 1 leaders could be forced to make several decisions should Kylian Mbappe leave the club. The Les Bleus star’s potential exit will leave a hole in PSG’s attack that needs to be addressed.
While it would be too much to ask Kean to replace the World Cup winner, the 22-year-old can at the very least offer PSG strength in depth. Capable of playing anywhere along the frontline, Kean could prove to be an inspired addition if used right.
However, the French side’s transfer priorities appear to be elsewhere, and it needs to be seen if they will seek to land Kean come to the end of the current campaign. Given the nature of the deal between Everton and Juventus, it will not be easy, and an agreement will need to involve all three teams.
Everton are currently in a state of rebuild under Frank Lampard, and it remains to be seen if the Chelsea legend is keen to have Kean back at Goodison Park. Juventus have the right to make Kean’s transfer permanent at the end of his loan spell in 2023. However, given his performances in Turin so far, there is little reason for the Bianconeri to take the option.
As things stand, it would appear that PSG are the lone club of the three who are keen on securing the Italian international’s services. Whether the player will return to Parc des Princes or stay put at the Allianz Stadium for another season remains to be seen.
