Real Madrid will reportedly fend off competition from Bayern Munich to sign Aurelien Tchouameni, valued at around €80 million by AS Monaco.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Aurelien Tchouameni could be the subject of a transfer battle between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. The French international is valued at around €80 million by AS Monaco.
Aurelien Tchouameni has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1 since joining AS Monaco from Bordeaux in January 2020. And after steadily growing in stature in the French top-flight in the last two years, the 22-year-old has also been establishing a foothold in the national side.
A mainstay in midfield for Monaco, the French international has featured in all but one game for the principality club when fit and available this season, turning out 36 times in all competitions. But the Ligue 1 outfit will face an uphill task in retaining the services of Tchouameni in the summer transfer window, with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich keen on signing him.
The interest from Real Madrid stems from the desire to lay down a succession plan for long-serving midfield stalwarts Casemiro, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. Two of the pieces of the puzzle are already in place in Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde. Tchouameni could be the long-term successor for Casemiro.
Recent reports have claimed that the Merengues have stepped up their efforts to snap up the 22-year-old in the summer transfer window. But Real Madrid will need to fend off stiff competition from fellow European giants Bayern Munich to land the French international.
Bayern Munich could rival Real Madrid in pursuit of several up and coming players in the summer, with Ryan Gravenberch another key midfield target for both clubs. Tchouameni could replace compatriot Corentin Tolisso at the Allianz Arena, with the French international entering the final six months of his Bayern contract.
Apart from Tchouameni and Gravenberch, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also likely to compete for Florian Wirtz, Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham. As for the pursuit of Tchouameni, the 22-year-old will cost around €80 million, making a potential deal difficult for both clubs.
