Everton are ready to rival Arsenal and others interested in 22-year-old Dutch international winger Cody Gakpo, who could quit PSV in the summer.

According to Rudy Galetti, there is considerable interest in PSV winger Cody Gakpo, who could quit the Eredivisie side in the summer. Everton are the latest side to join the queue which includes Arsenal, among other clubs.

Late in the January window, Cody Gakpo’s name emerged as a potential Premier League target. The Dutch winger appeared on the list of many clubs in England at the end of last month, following impressive displays for PSV this season. Gakpo has become a key component of the team, notching up 13 goals and providing as many assists in 32 games across all competitions.

His goal involvement record is formidable this season, making him one of the most in-form attackers across Europe. Liverpool and Manchester City considered making a late approach before signing Luis Diaz and Julian Alvarez respectively.

Arsenal were heavily linked in the same period, as Mikel Arteta pondered signing a wide forward before the window slammed shut. The Gunners were in dire need of adding to their front line after the exit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, although they ended the window without any major arrivals.

The Londoners are still in the market for wide attackers and there have been links to AC Milan’s Rafael Leao over a summer move. With Gabriel Martinelli potentially moving into a more central role, Arsenal appear to be looking for similar options to Leao, explaining the connection to Gakpo.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, they now have Everton for company, and even German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are in the chase. The Toffees could be in the market for new attacking reinforcements as Frank Lampard tries to bring young attackers to add to his ranks.

They have players such as Richarlison and Demarai Gray, who currently occupy the wide left berth in the team. Gakpo could become a quality option to improve their attacking output.

It remains to be seen if Arsenal or others come into the equation during the summer window. If Everton wish to recruit Gakpo, they should act fast and promise the youngster regular game-time, although a lot may depend on how they end the current campaign under Lampard.
