Liverpool are reportedly among the clubs interested in the services of Red Bull Salzburg’s emerging attacker Benjamin Sesko.
According to SportBild, as relayed by Sport Witness, Benjamin Sesko is seemingly emerging as one of the most in-demand young attackers in Europe. The 18-year-old attacking prodigy has enjoyed a swift rise to prominence lately and has been tipped for a move elsewhere in the summer, with multiple top clubs across Europe keen on securing his services.
Liverpool are among the clubs closely monitoring the progress of Sesko. The Premier League giants are yet to make any official move to sign the Red Bull Salzburg prodigy, but the club’s hierarchy remains interested in his development ahead of a potential move in the summer transfer window.
A native of Radece, Slovenia, Sesko has been a part of the Salzburg setup since 2019. He was immediately loaned out to FC Liefering on a two-year deal, during which the player made 44 competitive appearances, scoring 22 goals. He returned to Salzburg in the summer after a highly successful stint with the second division outfit.
Upon his return to Salzburg, Sesko has enjoyed rapid growth, having already featured in 25 competitive matches. His tally of 14 goal involvements is equally impressive, though the youngster has made an impression primarily due to his towering 1.94m figure, drawing direct comparisons with ex-Salzburg ace Erling Haaland.
It has led multiple clubs to keep a close eye on the 18-year-old’s development in Austria, and Tottenham and Liverpool are no exception. It is no secret that the Londoners are braced to lose Harry Kane in the summer, especially with Manchester City reportedly rekindling their pursuit of the English international.
Kane’s potential exit could leave a massive void in Tottenham’s strikeforce. In an attempt to replace the Englishman, the Lilywhites have been linked with a move for Napoli frontman Victor Osimhen. But in addition to the proven Nigerian international, it appears coach Antonio Conte is also keen on securing the services of Sesko, a young striker brimming with potential.
Another potential destination for the teenage sensation is Liverpool. Despite rumours suggesting a potential extension for Roberto Firmino, it appears Jurgen Klopp is keen on further reinforcing his attacking setup, especially given the over-reliance on ageing stars such as Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
The Reds are already expected to re-enter the market for Fabio Carvalho in the summer. The further addition of Sesko, to that end, could go a long way in solidifying the core of the future Liverpool attack, as the club look to gradually move on from the established stars.
