Today’s transfer news revolves around an emotional reunion being planned at Stamford Bridge, Bayern Munich looking at a top young English player and Atletico Madrid luring away a forgotten Liverpool striker.
Chelsea are all ready to make sure Antonio Conte gets what he wants in the summer, and what he wants is one particular Bayern midfielder. The German giants aren’t too worried though, because they are looking at a Tottenham youngster to join their burgeoning midfield and develop into one of the best.
Antonio Conte makes Vidal primary summer transfer target
The arrival of Italian manager Antonio Conte to Stamford Bridge next summer will bring with it a huge wave of change. While a number of players could be shown the door, Conte is also looking to bring in some of the players who he worked with at Juventus, as well as other talented players from the Serie A.
Even before Conte was officially announced as the next manager of Chelsea, he and Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal have been exchanging very gracious words of mutual admiration.
Conte has now decided to make sure he and his former star player at Juventus are reunited, and has made Vidal his priority summer signing for Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail. The move could prove to be extremely tricky for the two parties though. Vidal just signed for Bayern Munich last summer for 37 million euros and is tied down to a four year contract.
The Blues would have to offer a ludicrous amount as a transfer fee to land the Chilean box-to-box midfielder. But both player and manager seem to be keen on a move and it remains to be seen if Bayern Munich will let this move happen. It could happen if Bayern land their rumoured midfield target of the summer.
Bayern Munich want Eric Dier
The prodigious talents emerging at Tottenham Hotspur have propelled them to the second place in the Premier League table, and this has not gone unnoticed in Europe. One star performer for them this season has been 22-year-old Eric Dier, who has proven to be a force to contend with in the midfield, protecting the defence with military discipline and providing an aerial threat in set pieces.
Dier showed these qualities very recently in the England-Germany friendly, heading in the winning goal. This was witnessed by a number of German football fans, including Bayern Munich scouts who think that Dier would be the ideal replacement for the aging Xabi Alonso, according to the Daily Express.
Dier is an integral part of the young upsurge of talent at Tottenham Hotspur, and as such is very happy at the club where he has developed into a class midfielder. However, if the German giants come in with a big money move then it would be difficult to imagine Dier or Tottenham turning them down.
Atletico Madrid look to bring in Liverpool’s Christian Benteke
The arrival of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool has been the best news in recent times for the people involved with the club, but that is not the case for Belgian striker Christian Benteke.
Benteke was brought to Anfield from Aston Villa for 32.5 million pounds in the summer of 2015, and played a crucial part in their early season exploits. However, Klopp prefers Roberto Firmino in the attacking role, and with Daniel Sturridge fit and ready to fire once again, Benteke finds himself a forgotten man at Anfield.
He hasn’t had a Premier League start for Liverpool since Klopp took over, being used more as a cup specialist. This has apparently caught the attention of La Liga giants Atletico Madrid, who are keen on bringing the Belgian to Madrid according to goal.com.
Atletico Madrid are not known to be big spenders however, and will most likely not be willing to cough up in excess of 25 to 30 million pounds for the 25-year-old. If a move does happen, then the Reds will have to be content with suffering a big loss on the player they signed just last season.
