Arsenal’s frustrating winless run continued on Wednesday as they were held to a 0-0 draw by a resolute West Ham United side at the London Stadium
Chances came few and far between for the Gunners as David Moyes’ men defended resolutely in numbers all through the 90 minutes. The Hammers, in fact, had the biggest chance on the night as Javier Hernandez struck the woodwork in the final minute of regulation time.
With the result, Arsenal fell down to seventh in the Premier League table, having only been a few points behind second spot a couple of weeks ago. Unsurprisingly Arsene Wenger copped a lot of flak for the result.
Arsenal could go 10 games without a win and Arsene Wenger would still retain his job.
That’s what I call job security.

If Wenger survives this and next season from sacking, it’s pretty much confirmed that he’s Jesus.

I would love to know the science behind waiting until the 70th minute to make a change. As for Lacazette, why bother giving him 7/8 minutes at the end? Wenger’s most annoying habit.

Wenger will not stop till he destroys this whole club
— MK ? (@M_______Kay) December 13, 2017
All of you saying #WengerOut are wasting your time and energy because Wenger isn’t leaving until this club is relegated.
— Mohamed ElNneny (@ElNnenyM) December 13, 2017
Wenger is gradually destroying all he’s achieved over the years .. lots of fans who loved and worshipped him now want him gone, baffled that we fan all know our problem and am sure he knows it too but when it’s time for transfer he wouldn’t even try to sign who we need
— ?1SuperGooner?? (@ONESuperGUNNER) December 14, 2017
I won’t slag Arsene Wenger off as he’s achieved so much for this club. But Arsenal were wrong to renew his contract. He is well past his best. He isn’t going to get any better & we’ll never challenge again for the Title while he remains the manager

My column from Nov, 2008, when I first called for Wenger to go.
9yrs on, what’s changed?https://t.co/NadUZGLL9m #afc pic.twitter.com/8WMtytEmuZ— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) December 14, 2017
I used to get angry when I heard Wenger making excuses after a poor performance, now I just laugh because it’s so predictable what he will say, he will never take responsibility for the problems we have!
— MR DT © (@MrDtAFC) December 14, 2017
Alexis Sanchez wasn’t spared either, with fans taking his case after yet another disastrous performance.
The thing that gets me, is that people are shocked Sanchez is producing this garbage, you were warned about this in the summer, and after the Brighton match, but some decided to put their adulation for him before the football they love and support, and that’s factual
— Kenny Ken (@KennyKen1972) December 14, 2017
Sanchez has been the worst player this season imo. Loses the ball constantly, thinks he better than the whole team while all he does is shoot at the defenders and in the end he makes faces when the team loses.
— The United Link ? (@TheUnitedLink) December 14, 2017
Positive news… In 18 days we can sell Alexis Sanchez!
— Dan Bletsoe (@BletzRizzle) December 13, 2017
Jack and Özil are two positives from tonight. I honestly think Sanchez should be dropped. Currently offering so little, it’s shocking.
— North Bank Nadim (@NorthBankNadim) December 13, 2017
I think the whole league knows what Sanchez is going to do when he receives the ball at the edge of the box.
Pushes the ball inwards twice and then attempts to shoot. So two defenders just move close to him and don’t attempt anything.
He will lose it himself
— CanonCrested (@canoncrested) December 13, 2017
Any bid for Sanchez in January should be accepted, without hesitation.
— Wengerball (@ArseneStyle) December 13, 2017
But, it wasn’t all doom and gloom, with Jack Wilshere being lauded for his performance in his first Premier League start of the season.
Positives to take from tonight? Maitland-Niles was solid despite playing out of position on debut. Also thought Wilshere was good & looked in good shape – some terrific defensive work along with usual class on the ball. Can’t think of much else really. Change needed. #afc
— AFCAMDEN (@AFCAMDEN) December 13, 2017
Maintland-Niles and Wilshere the only positive. There was no game plan whatsoever, and it was embarrassing watching us learn 0 from Southampton, just passing the ball sideways, with noone making runs. Disgarceful.
— Renato (@th14Renato) December 13, 2017
Wilshere is a class above. Gareth is a coward if he doesnt take a fit Jack to the World Cup
— Austin (@AustinDarbo) December 13, 2017
People were saying Wilshere wasn’t PL standard anymore lol. Has Obiang chasing shadows. Looking very easy for him.
— RG (@registability) December 13, 2017
Arsenal are closer to the relegation zone than the top of the league. Once again awful performance away from home. We are two different teams at the Emirates and away..
Only positive thing from today’s game is Wilshere.. #afc
