Chelsea were the favourites going into the EFL Cup tie against their London rivals West Ham thanks to a 4-0 defeat of Manchester United at Stamford Bridge over the weekend.
But, the hosts started off well and dominated, virtually, the whole of proceedings as they raced on to a deserving 2-0 lead, thanks to two sublime goals from Kouyate and Fernandes respectively. Gary Cahill pulled one back but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation as Bilic and his men recorded their best victory of the current campaign and progressed to the quarter finals.
Despite the rotation of key players, Conte fielded a strong lineup and the Chelsea fans showed their disappointment at the players’ inability to do the job with Brazilian duo Willian and Oscar receiving the most flak.
The players Conte played today should have done the job. Unfortunately, Willian and Oscar were part of them.

Willian back to ruining counter attacks ?
— Conteholic (@Conteholic) October 26, 2016
Been saying this for years now but Oscar and Willian will never be good enough for a team with standards like Chelsea’s.
— Chelsea Related (@Chelsea_Related) October 26, 2016
Oscar and Willian have no place at Chelsea. Need to leave for the overhaul.

Terry in a back 3 was always a recipe for disaster. Azpi not a wingback. Oscar & Willian, I don’t know where to begin. Kante/Chalobah good.
— Adam (@Chalobahed) October 26, 2016
3- 4 -3 against southampton please! With No oscar, willian and Terry. @Chelseafc
— KangwaII (@KangwaII) October 27, 2016
And currently we need more attacking players. Willian and Oscar just isn’t good enough for us.
— C. (@MichyBoy_) October 27, 2016
Rather get Kakuta back than watch Willian play another game for us ever again. The right looks so much better without him & Ivanovic.

While some people defended the Brazilian duo while slamming the supporters who were out with metaphorical pitchforks against the attackers.
These Chelsea fans that are slating Willian and Oscar
Are the ones that were slating Pedro
Then he scored
And they fell in love
Idiots.— ConteTweets (@ConteTweets) October 26, 2016
People lambasting Willian, this is incredible stuff

There were some crowd troubles too as supporters from both the clubs got into altercations, which is not the first time the Hammers fans have been involved in as they were the focal point of a similar outburst at Manchester United’s travel bus in the FA Cup last season. The Police have made seven arrests related to the trouble while fans, experts and the two managers had their say on the issue.
Bilic on crowd trouble: ‘I was more concentrated on telling Cresswell to watch the game & not it [violence in stands] … it’s unacceptable’

Conte on crowd trouble: “I must be honest because I didn’t see it, we were playing. I don’t like this type of situation.”
— Chelsea HQ (@Chelsea_HQ) October 26, 2016
The crowd trouble was always going to be blamed entirely on us. Facts are secondary to hits to a website&blaming us gets more views.

To non football fans the last night’s crowd trouble at West ham don’t help. Why does some fans just go to games to behave like idiots.
— Neil Hoblyn (@tuck1982) October 27, 2016
Wasn’t aware of crowd trouble during game. Reports suggest West Ham need to get a grip of situation quickly
