Liverpool managed to eke out a narrow 1-0 win at the Hawthorns over Tony Pulis and his West Brom side thanks to a goal from Roberto Firmino.
Liverpool were set for a tough match at the Hawthorns as they went up against a West Bromwich Albion side that are in the top half of the Premier League. And the match panned out the way it was suspected, with the Baggies making it very tough for the Reds to score.
However, Firmino gave Liverpool the lead and the defenders somehow kept a very attacking West Brom side out to eke out an important 1-0 win.
Firmino was the cream of the crop and Liverpool fans hailed the Brazilian for his growth into a superstar at Anfield.

Imagine Neymar without any fault or negatives. You don’t have to, Firmino exists.

Since Mane’s injury, Firmino has really stood up to be counted when we’ve needed him. Top 4 should be ours now #LFC

Roberto Firmino created 5 chances today – the same as the entire West Brom team combined.

The most underrated player around has to be Firmino, LFC fan said to me last week we will win nothing with him in the side?

While Firmino earned praise, Twitter also noticed the sturdy defensive performance of the centre-half pairing of Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren, who bossed the game.

Still unbeaten!!

Still haven’t lost a game with Matip and Lovren paired together at centre back. Defence was fantastic today.

Unbeaten when Lovren and Matip have been our centre-back pairing. It’s a shame we can’t rely on their fitness for a whole season.

Matip, especially was on the receiving end of much praise, especially considering he joined Liverpool on a free transfer.
Matip been great so far. Still cannot believe we got him on a free transfer. Great business.

Glimpses of real class from Matip so far. Wonder how good he could be with a top, top CB next to him. Forward passing and dribbling is class
— Jack Sear (@JackSear) April 16, 2017
Joel Matip on a free saved Liverpool about £30m.

Anyone else think we should clone Matip and put him at the back with himself?

People also noticed the performance of Lucas Leiva in the middle of the park, especially with the Brazilian providing the assist from the set-piece, for Roberto Firmino.
Wouldn’t be letting Lucas Leiva anywhere near the exit door, club needs players like him around, Seen too many characters like him go
— Darren Farley (@DFImpressionist) April 16, 2017
These last few weeks might just give Lucas Leiva a chance to remain at the club.
— Mafidon O. (@TheXXVIII) April 16, 2017
There’s not near enough love on my timeline for Lucas Leiva , he’s been immense again today and gets an assist ?
