Teun Koopmeiners’ agent has confirmed that there is significant interest in the Atalanta midfielder’s services.
Koopmeiners has had an exceptional season with the Italian club. The Dutch attacking midfielder has put in consistent performances and has played a big part in their Europa League win where they defeated the unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen in the final.
The former AZ Alkmaar youth product has featured in 49 matches this term and has contributed towards 22 goals. He has found the back of the net on 15 occasions and has also bagged 7 assists. The majority of his appearances have come as an attacking midfielder but he has also been used in deeper roles in midfield and out wide on the flanks.
While his contract with the Italian outfit runs until the summer of 2027, the 26-year-old could look for a move to a bigger club in the summer and his agent has already confirmed that there is no shortage of interest in him.
Koopmeiners’ agent on his future
On the back of Atalanta’s historic win over Leverkusen in the Europa League final, Koopmeiners’ agent Bart Baving spoke to Calciomercato.it about his client’s consistent performances and even discussed what the future could hold for the Dutch international.
Baving said: “Let’s see… Teun is having a fantastic season, he has scored many beautiful and important goals, moreover he is a footballer with a constant performance, so it would be strange if other clubs didn’t follow him . We know how football works. For now he is very happy to have won the Europa League with Atalanta, and he will focus on finishing Serie A well, given that Atalanta can still finish third. and then on the European Championship. That’s all I can say for now.”
The agent praised the 26-year-old for his performances and important contributions throughout the campaign. He even acknowledged the fact that there is a lot of interest in his services and it would have been strange if clubs didn’t follow him given the kind of work he has been putting in throughout.
Liverpool front-runners for Koopmeiners
While he is happy at the Italian club and is focused on the job at hand, clubs will look to prise him away from Atalanta and Liverpool will be one of them. The Reds are reportedly leading the race for his signature. They want to reinforce their attack and Koopmeiners is a top target for them.
Arne Slot is all set to take charge of the English club and he seems keen on reuniting with his former player. The Dutch manager has worked with the 26-year-old in the past and feels he could be a great signing him the Merseyside club.
Not only will he make them more threatening going forward, but his arrival will also give Slot multiple options to work with given his versatility. Atalanta will look for a minimum of €60 million which will make things difficult for the Reds but they are believed to leading the chase at this stage.
