Manchester United inched a step closer to defending their Carabao Cup title as they reached the quarterfinals with a comfortable 2-0 win over Swansea City on Tuesday.
Jesse Lingard was the twin-goal hero for the visitors as he found the back of the net either side of half-time to guide his side to Last Eight stage. The 24-year-old was first sent clean through on goal by a clever Marcus Rashford back-heel flick, while the second was a superb headed finish from Matteo Darmian’s cross.
And the England international was hailed for his fantastic display by Manchester United fans as the Red Devils progressed to the quarterfinals.

Jesse Lingard loves the League Cup. Needs to start translating this type of form for when he plays in the Premier League.

Lingard gets a lot of stick but one thing you can’t deny is his good record in knockout competitions.

If you think of it Lingard never scores a dodgy goal. Has a knack of scoring beauties. Just needs to be a bit more consistent.

Fans also lauded Axel Tuanzebe and Scott McTominay, both of whom impressed in their first starts of the season.
About as comfortable as it could have been for United. Tuanzebe was very good. McTominay impressive, too. Positive night for Mourinho.

Axel Tuanzebe is comfortably our 3rd best CB. So confident, composed & his reading of the game is class. Needs to play more often.

Tuanzebe and McTominay have been class tonight. The future is bright. #mufc

Before anything ELSE
Absolutely buzzing for Tuanzebe and McTominay – both were fantastic today. Job done. #FullTimeJohn

I swear Mctominay is at least a 7/10 every single match he plays. Hasn’t put a foot wrong since he came into the squad #MUFC
— J.A.O (@JuanAnderOnly) October 24, 2017
Tuanzebe combines very good technical and tactical ability with wonderful athleticism and pace. A real asset.

But, there are concerns mounting over Luke Shaw’s future at Manchester United after the young defender only managed a cameo on Tuesday.
How will Luke Shaw prove himself if he isn’t playing in games like tonight?
— ㅤ (@TheUtdReview) October 24, 2017
Struggling to see much of a future for Shaw at United. Mourinho has made seven changes and he still can’t get in. Plus Rojo still to return.
— Rob Dawson (@RobDawsonESPN) October 24, 2017
I really pity for Luke Shaw. Man can’t even start a carabao match. He needs help.
— IYAWO MARTIAL (@Nazygold2) October 24, 2017
Sad to say I think Luke Shaw is now finished at United
