Arsenal continued their dramatic turnaround at the business end of their campaign by beating Stoke City 4-1 at the bet365 Stadium. Known to be a tricky place to visit, the Gunners seldom showed signs of any nerves, and brushed apart the Potters.
Olivier Giroud scored an impressive brace whsile Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil chipped in with the other two strikes for Arsenal as they raced towards three points. Peter Crouch scored a goal to make it 2-1, but Stoke failed to capitalise on it.
However, a huge talking point was the reception Aaron Ramsey received when he came on as a second-half substitute for the Gunners. The Welsh international registered an assist, and put on a solid cameo.
He did not receive the warmest of receptions by the Stoke City fans, as they continued to jeer him seven years after his horrific injury he suffered at the arena formerly known as the Britannia Stadium.
At the end of the match, it was Ramsey’s performances that made all the noise, and the fans took to Twitter to show their appreciation:
Aaron Ramsey is literally bigger than Stoke City football club.

Imagine breaking a players leg and then booing him every game following that. Stoke City, scum.

With that win, Arsenal closed in on the top four, and narrowed the gap on Liverpool to just one point, having played the same number of games. The Reds visit West Ham on Sunday, and anything other than three points would see Arsenal in the driver’s seat to secure fourth place.
Alexis destroys stoke with one leg. Legend.
