Liverpool climbed up to fifth in the Premier League table as they outclassed Stoke City to a 3-0 win at the Bet365 Stadium on Wednesday.
Liverpool only had a slender one-goal lead for large parts of the match following Sadio Mane’s 17th minute opener, giving the hosts a glimmer of hope of a comeback. But, Mohamed Salah’s introduction reinforced the Reds’ dominion as the Egyptian scored a late brace to round off the win.
The match wasn’t without controversy though, as Simon Mignolet was let off easily for what seemed to be a blatant red card-worthy foul on Mame Biram Diouf in the first half. And Liverpool fans thanked their stars while also arguing that the Belgian’s error-strewn ways will soon catch up to him.
I’m afraid Simon Mignolet’s time in a Liverpool shirt needs to brought to an end. Could have so easily cost us this game. We know what his level is: 5-7 decent games followed by the inevitable error.
Karius in for the next game and a new keeper in Jan. My choice: Jack Butland.

I’m convinced Simon Mignolet won some sort of a fan competition to play for Liverpool

That mignolet challenge is like deja vu from the Leicester game, mad how he still gets a game for a club looking to challenge for the league, worst keeper out of the top 6

Mignolet is a mid table team keeper he’ll always get my support while he’s in goals for Liverpool but even Stevie wonder can see he ain’t good enough

Mohamed Salah was the darling of the Liverpool fans once again after his late blitz ensured a comfortable win.

Reporter: Leo, what’s it feel like to be the best player in the world?
Messi: I don’t know, ask Mo Salah. pic.twitter.com/BIdBqgxttM

We have to do everything we can to keep Salah at this club, throw millions at him, put a £1billion release clause in his contract, turn Anfield into a pyramid, I don’t care, just keep this man happy ? pic.twitter.com/oJMDUpNjkp

But, the hero on the night was Sadio Mane, who opened the scoring for Liverpool before setting up Salah for his first goal.
Sadio Mane has 4 assists in his past 7 games ♻️
have to hand it to him – when Salah’s got the headlines, he’s been happy to adapt his role and become the supplier as well ? pic.twitter.com/7hBmIjySTC

Its easy to forget how good Mane is now we have Salah. Had a ‘quieter’ day today missing a 1v1 and still has a goal and assist

Mané in 5 minutes, commits a disruptive foul to break up a fast break then roasts Fletcher to brilliantly assist. Exactly what Liverpool have been missing #STKLIV

One fan summed it up quite nicely.
Lord Mignolet knew it even before joining us.
