Liverpool had to overcome a one-goal deficit as they hosted Southampton in the second-leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals at Anfield. But, it was another frustrating night for Klopp and his men as they were unable to put the ball in the back of the net once more against Southampton.
And Shane Long delivered the killer blow towards the end of the game with a brilliant counter-attacking goal, one that secured a finals berth for the Saints while confirming Liverpool’s exit from the competition.
Liverpool’s performance was ridiculed on Twitter as fans took to the social media platform to air their frustration on the recent run of poor results, a dreadful January indeed.

Liverpool would be raring for Mane to return to the squad but must do without the former Southampton man as they face a crucial few fixtures up ahead.
