Southampton 0-0 Manchester United: Sergio Romero spares Red Devils’ blushes at St. Mary’s [Best Tweets]

Southampton and Manchester United shared the spoils on Wednesday after they played out a goalless draw at the St. Mary’s Stadium.

The Saints were infact, the better team on the night and may be slightly disappointed to come away with a draw. The hosts had the better of chances throughout the game, while United’s goalmouth opportunities were few and far between. Anthony Martial came the closest to score, but his shot ricocheted off the post.

However, the headlines were stolen by Manchester United keeper Sergio Romero who put in a blinder of a performance to keep his side in the game. Not only did he keep out Manolo Gabbiadini’s penalty, but made a string of amazing saves throughout the contest.

He dominated the discussions on social media.

Mourinho confirmed earlier that Romero will play in the Europa League final, and the performance against the Saints showed exactly why. The Argentine proved why he deserves to be at the Manchester club, and made a case for taking the number one spot from David de Gea, should he leave in the summer.
