Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets has confirmed that Franck Kessie will join the Blaugrana from Serie A giants AC Milan on a Bosman move.
In an interview with RAC1, Sergio Busquets has practically confirmed that Barcelona will complete a Bosman move for Franck Kessie in the summer transfer window. The Barcelona captain’s comments come in the wake of Joan Laporta’s recent quotes pointing towards the agreement of two signings.
The Barcelona midfield ace said, “Kessie? Of course the coach saw him and agreed to sign him. I’m glad the team is making signings and players want to come here. Kessie is a strong player, and he does not lose possession. I’m sure he will help us.”
Kessie is one of the best midfielders in Serie A, going from strength to strength since joining AC Milan from Atalanta. While he initially moved to San Siro on a two-year loan deal, the Ivory Coast international has justified completing a permanent switch nearly three years ago by producing stellar performances for Milan season after season.
The 25-year-old has been instrumental in AC Milan’s recent rise in Serie A, with the Rossoneri becoming genuine title contenders in the last couple of years. Kessie has turned out 214 times for the Serie A giants, chipping in with 36 goals and 16 assists. But it has been common knowledge for some time that the player does not have a long-term future at San Siro, prompting Barcelona to launch an offensive for him.

Barcelona took little time to reach advanced talks with Kessie, who promptly accepted the Catalan club’s proposal. And Busquets’s comments come as the final confirmation that the 25-year-old will leave AC Milan as a free agent in the summer transfer window before completing a Bosman move to Camp Nou.
For their part, the Serie A giants are actively scouring the market for a long-term replacement for Kessie, with Chelsea vice-captain Jorginho recently emerging on their radar. As for Kessie, the Ivory Coast international should be a solid addition to the Barcelona first-team squad, especially with Busquets reaching the final phase of his career.
Kessie could stitch a solid central midfield partnership with Frenkie de Jong and Pedri, with Gavi and Nico Gonzalez completing a brilliant long-term core in the middle of the park. In the wake of Busquets and Laporta’s comments, the 25-year-old’s Bosman move to Barcelona appears to be a mere formality.
