Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim opens up on their transfer plans for the upcoming transfer window.
While Ruben Amorim didn’t have the best of starts to life at Old Trafford after he took charge mid-way through last season, the board did back him in the summer transfer window. The Red Devils broke the bank and significantly bolstered their squad. Those transfers have certainly helped them out, but there is still a lot that needs to be taken care of.
With the winter transfer window fast approaching, it will be interesting to see if United make any key moves mid-season to help Amorim push for a Champions League spot. Following Bruno Fernandes’ injury, they might be forced to make a few moves.
Will United sign players in January?
The Portuguese manager was recently asked about their transfer plans for January, and his reply suggests they could end up making a few moves.
Amorim said via Fabrizio Romano: “If we have the opportunity to sign a player who we believe represents the future of the club, he’ll come”.
“In January we have a plan and we’ll stick to it”.
United’s transfer plans of late
Over the years, United have been quite reactive in the transfer window. They have made multiple big-money signings in hopes of getting back to their best, but those moves haven’t worked out.
As a result, they have been very cautious with their transfer business under Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils continue to spend big, but only on players Amorim is confident about. They are targeting young players with massive potential and are focusing on bringing in Premier League-proven players, as they can produce instant results.
Given the kind of success they have had with Mathues Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, they will look to stick with their plans. Amorim has made it quite clear that once again, they will be in the market for players who can help them in the long run.
Apart from targeting young players, they want players who are eager to play for them and help them return to their glory days. The Red Devils already have a plan in place, and they are going to stick to it.
