Rodrygo Goes coy on Real Madrid future, Liverpool lead race to sign him

Rodrygo Goes has spoken on his future at Real Madrid as Liverpool lead the race for his signature in case of a potential departure.

Real Madrid have been a dominant force in the 2023/24 season. They have won the La Liga comfortably and are all set to square up against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. While they are already one of the best teams in Europe, they are expected to add more firepower to their attack in the summer.

Brazilian sensation Endrick is all set to arrive at the club, and Kylian Mbappe is also expected to join them as a free agent after leaving PSG. Mbappe’s potential arrival has resulted in a lot of speculation about the future of Rodrygo Goes at the club.

Rodrygo on his future

While the player seems committed to the club and has a contract until 2028, he recently gave an interview to DAZN which has sparked rumours about a potential departure in the summer.

Rodrygo was asked about wanting to stay at Real Madrid forever to which he replied via MundoDepprtivo, “Yes, well …”, to add “everything can happen. I have a contract here, but I don’t know”

While talking about his time at Real Madrid he surprised everyone by talking in the past as if he was on his way out. He said, “The years I’ve been here was a pleasure for me,”

When they asked the Madrid ace to not make the fans nervous about his future, the Brazilian international replied, “no, no. I’ve always said I want to be in this club, but let’s see…”.

Liverpool keen on Rodrygo

Rordygo Goes has no shortage of interest in his services. The Brazilian international is on the wishlist of multiple Premier League outfits, with Liverpool the ones leading the pursuit.

The Reds have been keen on him for a while now and feel he could be their next star forward. With Mohamed Salah’s long-term future uncertain, Rodrygo could be the ideal long-term replacement for the Egyptian international.

He might not have all the limelight at the Spanish club but has been a consistent performer for them, and his abilities are right up there with the best forwards in the world. After all, he has scored 17 goals across all competitions. As a result, Liverpool would love to have him in their squad but they won’t find it easy to sign him as Madrid have no intentions to negotiate his departure.

The player’s representatives have immediately responded to all the rumours about his potential departure following the interview. They have confirmed that he wants to continue at his dream club for years and that he did not express himself in the best way during the interview.
