Arsenal legend Robert Pires has backed Robert Lewandowski to succeed at Barcelona if he completes a move from Bayern Munich this summer.
As quoted by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Robert Pires has had his say on the rumours surrounding Robert Lewandowski. The Arsenal legend has backed the Bayern Munich striker to succeed at FC Barcelona if he completes the move to Camp Nou in the summer transfer window.
Robert Lewandowski has been vocal about his desire to leave Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window. The Polish international reportedly wants to embark on one last adventure in his career and is reportedly keen on joining Barcelona, even as other high profile European clubs chase him.
Recent reports claimed that Bayern Munich rejected the opening bid from Barcelona, whose confidence about signing Lewandowski remains high. And amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Martin Braithwaite, Barcelona will need to invest in a striker in the summer transfer window despite Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s heroics this past season.
Robert Pires has now had his say on the speculations surrounding Lewandowski. The Arsenal legend has insisted that one has to respect the Pole’s decision before adding that La Liga will be perfect for him, advocating for his success at FC Barcelona.
Robert Pires (Arsenal legend): "If Barcelona signed Lewandowski, I'd consider it a very good move. It's a good league for a player like that. He would have more freedom in Spain compared to the Bundesliga. La Liga is more technical, and it seems the right thing for him." pic.twitter.com/tuxpwVVh9C

The Arsenal legend said, “You have to respect the player’s decision. If he really wants to quit because he thinks he has achieved everything at his current club, then he should be allowed to. Now he wants to see a different league, a different environment.”
“I’m not surprised because it’s actually the last chance for another great contract. It’s a good league for a player like that. Mainly because he would have even more freedom in Spain compared to the Bundesliga; La Liga it is more technical, it seems perfect for him.”
“Lewandowski is not an ordinary player. I have the impression that mentally he knows exactly what he wants. If he had any doubts about changing clubs right now, he would have taken it seriously. I am sure. If he moves to Barcelona, he is capable of adapt very quickly to Xavi’s tactics.”
