Robbie Fowler has hailed the current Liverpool team, insisting they can win more trophies this season, following their Carabao Cup success.
Liverpool are enjoying a fine 2021/22 campaign. Having already won the Carabao Cup by beating Chelsea in the finals via penalties, Jurgen Klopp’s side are very much in contention to win three more trophies.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have a potential ‘quadruple’ on the cards, as they are in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they will be facing Benfica. The Reds have also reached the FA Cup semi-finals after beating Nottingham Forest. They have managed to close down a massive gap on Manchester City in the Premier League, coming within one point of Pep Guardiola’s side.
Liverpool have been backed to win the title, while the clash at the Etihad between them and Manchester City is being tipped as the title-deciding showdown.
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler firmly believes this team can add to their trophy haul this season. As quoted by Sport Witness, the former Liverpool striker hailed Klopp’s squad as one the best the Reds have ever had.
Fowler said, “You know, as a Liverpool fan, what you see with this team, what they do together, you can say they are arguably one of the best Liverpool teams ever. They deserve to win several trophies. They have a chance of winning the championship this year.”
“They are even capable of winning all the trophies or getting the treble because they are really good. Certainly, as a former pro player, we can say that if you win difficult matches, it means that you are doing well. This is what the players and the fans wanted. No one at Liverpool can complain about that. The more difficult matches we play, the more it means that we are successful.”
After the international break, Liverpool will resume their Premier League action with a tie against Watford. The Reds are on a nine-game winning streak in the top flight. They will be hoping to make it ten in a row as Klopp looks to keep up the pressure on Manchester City in the title race.
After that, they will be involved in a clash with Benfica away from home in the Champions League, where Liverpool are firm favourites to progress into the semi-finals.
