Rio Ferdinand urges Alejandro Garnacho to leave Manchester United and join Napoli

Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho has been linked with a move away from the club ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged Alejandro Garnacho to leave the Premier League club and join Napoli because of his inconsistencies.

Speaking on his podcast, Ferdinand said, “If I am advising Garnacho, I say I wanna go to Napoli. “If we didn’t have Amorim as the manager, if we had a manager who played with wingers, then I’m not selling Garnacho – no chance, I’m keeping him here.

“I love him, he might not be in his best form right now, but I love Garnacho. He’s got a confidence and an arrogance about him that he wants to be the best. He might not be going through that spell now, it happens to all young players … but the system that the manager plays does not suit him.

“So if I’m him, or an advisor on his team, I’m saying ‘guys, thank you, but I wanna go now’. And if I’m his advisor, I want him in an environment that’s going to get the best out of him. If I’m him, I’d get out of there, because I think the system is only going to hold him back.”

Garnacho has been one of Manchester United’s brightest attackers when on form, and his departure would be a massive blow for the club. It will be interesting to see if the Argentine international decides to move on in the summer. The youngster is a talented player with a bright future, and he could develop into a top-class player with the right guidance.

Napoli need more attacking depth in the first-team squad, and Garnacho would be a long-term investment for them. They have recently lost Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to PSG, and the Madrid-born forward could be his replacement.

Manchester United are going through period of rebuilding, and it remains to be seen whether the young attacker decides to move on and try out a new challenge in Italian football. Napoli are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the opportunity to play for them will be quite exciting for the youngster.

The 20-year-old could be a key player for them, and regular football in Italy could accelerate his development as well. The player certainly has the physicality and technical attributes to do well in Italy, and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can agree on a deal.

Manchester United should hold on to Garnacho

Manchester United are already mediocre in the final third, and losing Garnacho will weaken them further. Jadon Sancho and Antony are expected to leave the club permanently at the end of the season, and the departure of Garnacho could force Manchester United to invest in multiple attackers in one window.

The Red Devils need to improve the other areas of their squad as well, and it remains to be seen whether they are ready to let Garnacho leave in the summer. The Argentine international has the qualities to develop into a top-class player, and Manchester United could regret their decision to let him leave.
