Real Madrid maintained their momentum in the Spanish La Liga on Sunday night with a 4-1 victory over a Sevilla side that made the match anything but simple, despite what the scoreline at the end suggested.
Nacho opened the scoring with a controversial goal before Cristiano Ronaldo added a second, only for Stevan Jovetic to pull one back for the visitors, visibly unnerving a Real Madrid side that are already feeling the pressure in the league.
However, Ronaldo added another after a break to give Real Madrid some breathing space and Toni Kroos wrapped things up in the 84th minute with a goal to make it 4-1 and give Los Blancos a precious three points.
Twitter paid tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese superstar made it 400 goals for Los Blancos after netting Real Madrid’s second, before adding another goal to his tally and making it 401 for Real Madrid in 391 games.

Take all numbers aside & who has more goals than him, but this has been Cristiano Ronaldo’s most decisive season. Present in every game.

Just the casual 401 goals in eight years for Ronaldo at Real Madrid. Absolute joke. Sensational goal scorer.

Weak-foot tap-in by @Cristiano Ronaldo. He really fell off this season. pic.twitter.com/JIOX81DXFG

There was also praise for Zinedine Zidane, who made some shrewd substitutions to stifle Sevilla when needed.
Zidane about to give us one of the best seasons in our history ????? – The best manager in the world #HalaMadrid pic.twitter.com/tEDJ7ZxBaV

Zidane is a better coach than he is given credit for. He is not pragmatic nor plain dumb in exposing his team. Right balance, as Ancelotti.
— Seleção Brasileira (@BrazilStat) May 14, 2017
Zidane deserves so much credit for creating this Real Madrid.
— AD (@TheRMZone) May 15, 2017
Credit to Zidane for sticking to his players @marcoasensio10 @MateoKova16 @Casemiro and giving them chance to grow. #RealMadrid
— Hedi (@RealHeDi) May 14, 2017
Zidane deserves credit for how he has used his full squad all season. If Wenger did that often, Perhaps, Perez would be less disillusioned.

Ridiculous second half. Zidane deserves credit. What a man.

Many were also impressed by Stevan Jovetic’s performance, with the Sevilla man unfortunate not to score more goals on the night.
Jovetic could’ve scored a hattrick on another day. Hit the woodwork twice and a brilliant save from Navas

THIS GUY JOVETIC WE NEED TO BUY HIM THEN LOAN HIM OUT TO A NON LEAGUE TEAM FOREVER. FFS

Oh my days, Jovetic has been super unlucky. Two crossbar hits
— SwedishJoker (@SwedishJoker92) May 14, 2017
