Real Madrid survived a late scare to narrowly beat Levante 3-2 and secure their first home win of the season, with Karim Benzema being the star yet again.
Real Madrid were simply unstoppable in the first half, with Levante barely getting a touch on the ball. And, within a fifteen-minute period, Los Blancos seemed to have put the game beyond their visitors’ reach, with Karim Benzema scoring twice before Casemiro got on the score sheet as well.
But, early into the second half, Levante pulled a goal back and even though Real Madrid continued to dominate the proceedings, a 75th minute goal from Gonzalo Melero paved the way for a frenetic end to the game. But, Real Madrid held on to their slender advantage to get back to winning ways. And, Benzema was unsurprisingly hailed for another job well done for the Merengues.

Benzema is one of those players in our lifetime whose career will go under the radar.
Anytime you play alongside CR7 as a striker you won’t get as much spotlight, but wow – has he had himself an amazing career. What an incredible player to watch.

Karim Benzema has been insane man. Link-up, goals, pressing, everything. That’s 4 league goals in 4 games. Also, the stats don’t show it, but Lucas Vazquez was involved in 2 goals… maybe sometimes you guys should give him a break. pic.twitter.com/l32T331Ypv

Karin Benzema alongside Guti are the most underrated players to have played for Real Madrid. Unselfish, easy on the eye, versatile. Despite Benzema‘s impressive stats, the most important attributes he brings to the game are those that don’t show up on the stat sheet.

And now a brace!
Really nice goal. Hilarious that people say he’s past it. Clearly they haven’t seen him lately. Absolute boss.

James Rodriguez impressed for a second time this season, pulling the strings effortlessly in the middle of the park while providing a fine assist for Benzema’s second goal. And, the Colombian received his fair share of praise as well.

James Rodriguez assisting Benzema for Real Madrid’s second against Levante. Glad to see the Colombian playing well after a strange preseason, definitely one of the most underrated players of the last years #LaLiga #RMALEV pic.twitter.com/VmkbUbTIwb

James Rodriguez created 7 chances today… what a player. Proving all his doubters wrong.

Finally, Eden Hazard was congratulated following his Real Madrid debut, with the Belgian making an early impression.
GK saves a cracking Hazard shot. Involved in 2 scoring chances already since coming on minutes ago. #RMALEV pic.twitter.com/hOGM5mNmWu

Eden probably already the most fouled player in this game despite not even being on for less than a half. #RMALEV pic.twitter.com/wr4IeNUU24
