Real Madrid and Tottenham continued to remain tied atop Group H as the two sides played out a closely contested 1-1 draw at Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.

The visitors took a shock lead just before the half-hour mark when Raphael Varane was forced to head Serge Aurier’s cross into his own net. But, Zinedine Zidane’s men levelled things up ahead of half-time as Cristiano Ronaldo made no mistake to convert from the spot after Aurier was penalised for a poor foul on Toni Kroos.

Post the break, Los Blancos and Spurs traded blows, with Hugo Lloris making a couple of brilliant saves to deny the hosts, and the Tottenham captain was hailed by users on Twitter for a stellar performance on the night.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo was the toast of the Real Madrid fans after a strong performance on the night, while former Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric was lauded as well.

But, Karim Benzema came at the receiving end of fans’ frustration after an underwhelming outing on the night.
