Ray Parlour urges Arsenal to sign Eberechi Eze this summer

Arsenal have been urged to sign Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze this summer by club legend Ray Parlour.

Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour has urged via talkSPORT that signing 27-year-old Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze would be the icing on the cake for the North London outfit.

The Gunners have done well to bring in Viktor Gyökeres this summer. The Swedish international is one of the best strikers in the world right now, and he will help improve the team going forward. However, they could use a bit more creativity and unpredictability in the final third.

The Crystal Palace playmaker would help create opportunities for his teammates, and he is exceptional when it comes to taking on defenders in one-on-one situations. He will help break down deep defensive blocks.

The Arsenal icon said, “I think there might be one more signing. I don’t know how much money they’ve got left or whether the rules as well they’ve got to look at, but if there is enough money, Eze would be [a great signing].”

Parlour continued: “He’d be [playing] off the left there, maybe, but you’ve got to have options. You’ve got to have lots of players who can just come in and come out of the team. And we all know that you’ve got to have depth. A lot of depth if you’re playing Champions League football, the FA Cup, so many games.”

Arsenal move would be ideal for Eze

The opportunity to play for Arsenal will be quite attractive for the player. It would be a huge step up and give him a chance to test himself at the highest level. The Englishman will want to fight for major trophies, and Arsenal will be able to provide that platform. Even though Crystal Palace managed to win the FA Cup last season, they are not quite at the level required to fight for major trophies.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal come forward with an offer. He had a £68 million release clause in his contract, which has expired. It is fair to assume that Arsenal will have to pay a premium to get the deal done. They might be able to negotiate favourable payment terms, but Crystal Palace are unlikely to let the player leave for cheap.

Arsenal have come close to winning the Premier League title in recent seasons and made it to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League last term. They will want to go all the way and need more depth in the squad. The 27-year-old could be a game-changer for them.
