Barcelona prodigy Pedri has claimed that he wishes to see former teammate and club legend Lionel Messi back at Camp Nou.
Speaking in an interview with La Vanguardia, as relayed by 90 min, Barcelona midfield prodigy Pedri has called for former teammate Lionel Messi to return to Camp Nou.
Pedri, who has become one of the best young players on the planet currently, had his breakthrough at Camp Nou last season when Messi was the captain. The 19-year-old played with the Argentine magician for a year before the latter ended up leaving Barcelona on a free transfer after the club could not renew his contract.
Messi signed for Paris Saint-Germain, penning a two-year contract with an option of an additional twelve months. However, he has had difficulty getting going at his new club, with the 34-year-old failing to hit the heights expected of him.
Although he has registered 11 assists, Messi has netted just two goals in 18 Ligue 1 matches for Les Parisiens in the ongoing campaign. The former Barcelona superstar was recently jeered by the PSG fans following their exit from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid.

The situation has sparked speculations about his future at Parc des Princes, with reports claiming that Messi dreams of returning to Barcelona. Now, Pedri has commented on the Argentine international and admitted that he wishes to see the 34-year-old back at Camp Nou.
“I’ve had a great time with Leo on the pitch and off it he’s a magnificent person so I hope he can come back. I had fun playing with him and it is a joy to have him as a teammate,” Pedri told La Vanguardia.
Pedri is not the first person to talk about Messi’s return to Barcelona. The Catalans’ manager, Xavi Hernandez, recently spoke about his former teammate’s predicament in Paris and insisted that the door was always open for Messi to make a comeback to Catalonia.
As iterated earlier, Messi has a contract with PSG until the summer of 2023 with an option of an additional year. Given his legendary status at Barcelona, a return cannot be ruled out at any point. However, the Blaugrana will have to make serious adjustments to their wage bill to accommodate the superstar on their books.
