Paul Merson tells Tottenham to sign Raheem Sterling

Tottenham, West Ham United in transfer tussle to sign Mateo Pellegrino.

Raheem Sterling terminated his contract with Chelsea last week, and the vetetan English attacker is looking for a new club.

Raheem Sterliing was frozen out at Chelsea, and he needed to leave to play more often. The English international has been linked with multiple clubs in recent days, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal star Paul Merson has urged Tottenham to make a move for the experienced attacker. They need more quality and depth in the attacking unit, and Sterling could be a useful addition if he regains his confidence. He was once a world-class player for Liverpool and Manchester City.

However, the veteran English attacker has shown a sharp decline in recent seasons. His recent loan spell at Arsenal did not work out, and he struggled to establish himself as an important player at Chelsea following a £50 million move. However, the opportunity to join Tottenham could be exciting for him. He would get to play for a competitive club and a quality team.

Merson said on Sky Sports, “They need players in. Thomas Frank and Tottenham have been unlucky with Solanke, Kulusevski and Maddison all out. I would bring Sterling in. I think it’s a no-brainer on a free transfer. I really do. You don’t want to start bringing every Tom, Dick and Harry in to try and stay up. They just need one or two players in and get their players fit.”

Sterling could be a superb addition

Tottenham have multiple injury problems in the final third, and a dynamic attacker like Raheem Sterling could be very useful. He is capable of slotting into multiple attacking roles. He will add goals and creativity to the team. The player is currently a free agent, and his acquisition would be an inexpensive one for Tottenham. It remains to be seen whether they are prepared to gamble on him.

Tottenham have signed a couple of players this window, but they have failed to add more depth in the attacking unit. They have struggled with creativity and the lack of goals. Spurs need a dynamic attacker like Sterling, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
