Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion in recent months.
Carlos Baleba is one of the finest young talents in the Premier League, and Manchester United are eager to secure his signature. They need to add more quality and depth in the middle of the park, and signing the Cameroonian international would be ideal.
Baleba will add physicality and defensive cover in the middle of the park. The 22-year-old is still relatively young, and he will only improve with coaching and experience. Baleba could develop into a quality player for Manchester United with the proper guidance.
However, Manchester United have now been dealt a major blow in their pursuit of the African midfielder. Brighton & Hove Albion chief Paul Barber has revealed that there has been no contact to sign the player from any club and that they have no desire to sell him either.
“No call from Old Trafford, no call from anyone connected to Manchester United,” the Brighton chief told talkSPORT’s Alex Crook before adding, “We have no plans or desire to sell Carlos in this window or any future window.
“We know that he’s a talented player and he’s got a lot of options ahead of him in the future. But for us right now, he’s an important player in the second half of the season, and we’re looking forward to getting him back from AFCON.”
Can Mancheter United get the Baleba deal done?
It will be interesting to see if any club is willing to test the resolve of Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer transfer window. The talented young midfielder could be tempted to join a big club in future. He will want to compete at the highest level, and the opportunity to join Manchester United will be hard to turn down for him.
Even though Brighton & Hove Albion do not want to sell the player, they could be under pressure to sanction his departure if the player is intent on a move. Manchester United should look to try and convince the 22-year-old Cameroonian international to join the club. It would give them a position of strength when it comes to negotiating the transfer.
