Manchester United suffered a disappointing goalless draw against Hull City last night.
Eldin Jakupovic was Hull’s hero on the night after several fine saves kept the Red Devils at bay as Hull stole a precious point at Old Trafford.
United did attack from start to finish and looked impressive at times, but simply could not take their chances. Phil Jones looked impressive until going off injured once more, while Jose Mourinho cut a visibly frustrated figure on the sidelines.
The manager was left furious after Oumar Niasse failed to pick up a second yellow card and was seen remonstrating with the fourth official. In the end, Jakupovic took all the plaudits and was deservedly given the man of the match award.
Twitter was quick to praise the goalkeeper, while United fans were infuriated that he put in such an impressive display against their club.

Jakupovic proving he’s number 1, how many goals did you see tonight Jose?? #hcafc ??

Eldin Jakupovic tonight was Boaz Myhill at Spurs in 2010. Immense.

Turns out Jakupovic is better than Buffon.

United nearly had their customary offside winner, but Jakupovic saved it. They might have to settle for a result they actually deserve now.

Mourinho was on the receiving end of some criticism from both United fans and neutrals for his antics as well as his tactics.
Classic Mourinho. Making the story about him, Klopp and 4th officials rather than the result/performance. It’ll work too

Mourinho’s Man United making Hull City look like Bayern! ?
That wasn’t in the script, was it Jose? pic.twitter.com/01lEdxu7WD

You know it destroys Mourinho that Chelsea is in 1st.

Jose Mourinho going on about Klopp in a press conference to deflect from a home draw against Hull is so Jose Mourinho.
— LFC Fans Corner (@LFCFansCorner) February 1, 2017
The fact that our fans think Mourinho isn’t failing because we’re still in the FA Cup and EFL Cup sums up how far our standards have fallen.
— Pogbesque (@Pogblast) February 1, 2017
That #mufc loss is all down to José Mourinho. Rashford’s not a winger. Rooney should never have come on. Weird saga with Martial ongoing.
— Liam Canning (@LiamPaulCanning) February 1, 2017
Mourinho has failed. The objective (and money) was there to at least be fourth. If you’re drawing with dregs like Burnley and Hull… Failed
— Alex Shaw (@AlexShawESPN) February 1, 2017
I think it’s safe to say Mourinho is focusing on bigger things like the EFL cup. ???
— Danny Welbeck (@WelBeast) February 1, 2017
Mourinho will be livid the officials didn’t give them an offside goal tonight! #MUFC

Jose Mourinho is chasing Guus Hiddink’s record for the most irrelevant undefeated streak and he will get there.

Jose Mourinho blaming everything but his teams lack of cutting edge ????

Mourinho is one of the worst mangers when it comes to making decisions and man management.??? I don’t know how he even got the job.

Many also wondered what French forward Anthony Martial was doing on the bench, especially with the Red Devils desperately needing a goal.
Still cannot believe that Rooney was picked to go on ahead of Martial, a player that this game was crying out for. Rooney’s been pointless.
— Liam Canning (@LiamPaulCanning) February 1, 2017
Mourinho drops Martial to try make him earn his place but Zlatan walks around for 90 minutes like it’s his face on the club logo.
— _ (@JoseMourinhod) February 1, 2017
Fast forward to Sun where Martial will be expected to deliver nothing short of a 10/10 to keep his place ahead of tonight’s performers ?
— ㅤㅤㅤ (@AaronMancz) February 1, 2017
Where the hell was Martial?? Disgusting treatment after 2 assists last game. I really hate Jose sometimes.
— Triple A ?? (@abdisalan14) February 1, 2017
How Martial cannot come on is beyond me. Two assists in the FA Cup and doesn’t even get subbed on.
— Triple A ?? (@abdisalan14) February 1, 2017
Mourinho needs to sort whatever problem he has with Martial because it’s costing the team. Cannot deal with this nonsense right now.
— The Man Utd Way (@TheManUtdWay) February 1, 2017
This loss (yes it is a loss) is all on Jose and his ego. No way anyone can convince me Rashford and Rooney deserve to play ahead of Martial.
— Saurav (@ree_casolina) February 1, 2017
The fact that José can’t spot how badly this team needs Martial is quite worrying to say the least.
— Ryan (@RyWTN) February 1, 2017
I blame Mourinho for this. How can he not bring Martial on? #MUFC #MUNHUL

There was plenty of talk about Zlatan Ibrahimovic as well, after the Swede put in a slightly disappointing performance.

Zlatan’s work rate is something similar to a light post, if he isn’t banging them in, he isn’t doing anything for the team.
— Triple A ?? (@abdisalan14) February 1, 2017
Mou needs to treat Pogba and Zlatan like how Mkhitaryan, Martial and Rashford are treated. This is not the United way. #mufc
— Vinay (@vinnaykumarr) February 1, 2017
Zlatan was rubbish, Pogba was rubbish. Subs were poor. Mata and Pogba miss sitters. Just not good enough. #munhul #MatchdayMac
