Marco Reus scores hat-trick on return as Borussia Dortmund smash eight past Legia Warsaw [Best Tweets]

On a record breaking night of Champions League football, Borussia Dortmund took the cake in a goal-frenzy that ended 8-4 in their favour with Marco Reus scoring a hat-trick on his return from injury.

Borussia Dortmund delivered an absolute thrashing of Legia Warsaw in their penultimate game of Group F to emerge 8-4 victors at the Signal Iduna Park. With 12 strikes hitting the back of the net on the night, the game broke the record for most goals scored in a Champions League encounter.

However, the clash was made feisty owing to a fearless and spirited Legia Warsaw side who were undone by a superior attack and let down by their own defence. Marco Reus completed a sweet return from injury to score a hat-trick while also assisting two other goals to make it a memorable game for German.

While there was much fuss about the Dortmund attack, Thomas Tuchel was not at all pleased by the Bundesliga giants’ defending on the night when they were often left completely exposed at the back hence enabling Legia to suitably capitalize. It was the Polish side who surprisingly took the lead before  Dortmund took over and ran the show through the course of what was a rather frenetic ninety minutes.
