Manchester United huffed and puffed, but eventually managed to get the desired result at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City. Going into the game with a plan of frustrating the opponents, Jose Mourinho did just that and settled for a goalless affair on Thursday.

Needless to say, it was the Citizens that had the better of the chances, but they failed to break down a stern United defence. However, they were handed a lifeline late on when Marouane Fellaini let the tempers get the better of him and headbutted Sergio Aguero.

What followed was referee Martin Atkinson showing the Belgian a straight red card. This incident occurred only seconds after Fellaini picked up a yellow card – the first booking in 82 minutes of the Manchester derby.

The fans on Twitter were having none of the midfielder’s actions and held nothing back while expressing their anguish. Take a look:

Fellaini will be handed a minimum three-match ban, which would see him miss United’s key away game against Arsenal in the month of May.
