Manchester United eked out an important 1-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday, thanks to a late Anthony Martial winner.
Jose Mourinho looked set to be ridiculed again for his defensive mentality as Manchester United headed towards another 0-0 result against a big side, despite Tottenham not having Harry Kane at their disposal. But, Anthony Martial, who came on for Marcus Rashford, converted from a Romelu Lukaku glancing header to hand United the lead and all three points.
People hailed Romelu Lukaku for the performance, who despite not being on the scoresheet, was influential on the day. The Belgian struck the post once and was the creator for Martial’s winner. But, it was the Frenchman who stole the headlines with the winner – another timely reminder of his talent.
Anthony Martial has some many clutch moments in him. Great mentality to deliver when the pressure is on him or the team. Superb player.

Anthony Martial has scored more goals (4) as a substitute in the Premier League this season than any other player.

Martial is better as an impact sub than a starter at the minute. Face it. Accept it. Love it. ??

Timing of Anthony Martial’s Premier League goals this season. 87, 84, 90, 81. Impact from the bench ??.

The man in limelight, as ever, was Jose Mourinho, whose tactical plan worked brilliantly as Tottenham failed to be much of a threat going forward. And the goal was the cherry on the top along with another clean sheet in the bag for David De Gea & co.
Never disrespect Jose Mourinho again. pic.twitter.com/i1ARyyBUuy

Jose Mourinho has never lost back-to-back Premier League games against the same manager in charge of the same club.
Job done. pic.twitter.com/BhcsyO4p9m

Proper game management from Mourinho. Not pretty but looked deadly in the 2nd half. Better than getting piped 4-1 in front of Maradona at Wembley.

Man UTD keep winning. Mourinho keeps collecting points. That’s one definition of a winner.

Some fans are too quick to turn their back on José Mourinho. He doesn’t play perfect football, but he can deliver results. Important win.

Credit to Mourinho. Went on the attack with his changes and in a game that seemed destined to end in a draw #mufc won.

Defensively outstanding today. Nullified runs in behind from Alli, Son, Eriksen. Mourinho deserves immense credit for fixing our defence.

People can moan as much as they want about Mourinho’s defensive style. As the great SAF once said, goals win games – defences win titles!
