Manchester City ran riot at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday to hand a thumping 5-0 loss to Liverpool, who saw Sadio Mane being sent off in the first half
A sombre start to the weekend’s marquee Premier League clash was kicked into life after Sergio Aguero broke the deadlock midway through the first half. Things then got heated up when Sadio Mane saw red for a high boot on Ederson before Gabriel Jesus doubled the hosts’ advantage in injury time.
The Brazilian scored early into the second half as well before Leroy Sane rounded off a deserved win with a late double. However, it was an anti-climactic start to life as a Liverpool player for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who, unsurprisingly, was a major talking point in the aftermath of the one-sided affair.
The man took a pay cut to join Liverpool after losing 4-0 only to lose 5-0 on his debut with Liverpool.
You can’t make this stuff up.

Sadio Mane was a major talking point as well after his dismissal brought the game into life:
Walker sent off for aggressive glancing, Sterling sent off for excessive celebration, but Mane harshly sent off for booting Ederson’s face.

The ‘he was looking at the ball’ defence for Mane is odd. Emre Can was looking at the ball when he fouled Aguero just now. Still got booked

This whole Mane thing can be summed up by whether or not you accept kicking people in the head, at head height, is actually bad.

Mane lucky to get a red card instead of an Attempted Murder charge. pic.twitter.com/8NDpqppCt0

Imagine if Mane had pinned Ederson for the 3 count after that big boot and won the WWE Championship

If that happens at the half way line that’s a yellow. Moss has bottled it. Mane got kicked in the head and nothing was given. BS

At first I thought Sadio Mane deserved the red card but after looking at the replay 5 times, I’m convinced the red card was fully deserved.
— Danny Welbeck (@WelBeast) September 9, 2017
If you think it’s not a red you’re either a Liverpool fan or you captained Mane in your fantasy football

Meanwhile, Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus all had fans singing their praise after the trio enjoyed terrific outings:

Aguero & Jesus’ partnership, De Bruyne behind the strikers and our wonderful full-backs, Mendy and Walker. So many positives to take today.

Sergio Aguero is easily the best striker in the Premier League, no debate.
