Steven Gerrard announced a potential departure from LA Galaxy via an Instagram post and it has left Liverpool fans speculating about his future, with many entertaining the possibility of a potential Anfield return for the club legend.
Steven Gerrard’s heartfelt Instagram post earlier on Saturday fueled rumours of a potential exit from LA Galaxy. The news has fans and pundits alike discussing the future of the former England captain. While some feel that at the age of 36 Gerrard could be set for retirement, many among the Reds’ faithful believe he must make a return to Anfield.
The Liverpool legend went state-side in May 2015 after securing a move to LA Galaxy having seen chances of a potential contract extension with his boyhood club diminish. The midfielder has scored 5 goals and has been a stable figure in the centre of the park for Bruce Arena’s team. However, with the MLS season only half-way through, Gerrard looks set to pack his bags and return home to England.
Liverpool supporters were delirious after hearing about his potential departure and have since unanimously called for a move back to the club. Jurgen Klopp’s comments regarding the same following Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over West Brom did little to douse the feverish speculation linking Gerrard with a fairytale return.
